Fount is a great little bookmarklet which will tell you which font you can see on a website. All you do is copy the bookmarklet into your bookmarks and whenever you want to know what a font is click the bookmark and hover over the font in question, as long as it’s a web font and not an image it will tell you the font name, size and weight.

I enjoy creating different themed showcases but sometimes I find something that inspire me and have to either go on the hunt for similar themed designs or wait till I have collected enough similar designs on my travels to be able to post them. This is why I have decided to introduce a new feature in this section called Inspiration Weekly, a collection of 7 designs (not just websites) each week that have in some way inspired me. So here is the first seven:

Stripe Background Generator

StripeMania as the title suggests (as does the name) helps designers create seamless tiled striped backgrounds for their designs. Its extremely easy to use, letting you choose the width, spacing and colour, plus it can stop those headache when trying to create this type of tiled background yourself.

Muppet Doodle

I don’t usually see the point in commenting on a Google Doodle within this blog, because they are things that come and go quite quickly so the post becomes dated as soon as the doodle has gone. However because I am a huge Jim Henson fan and there is a youtube video that shares part of the process into creating this animated Doodle, I thought I would make an exception

Six new muppet like characters were created in collaboration with the Jim Henson company using the Henson Digital Puppet Studio to celebrate Jim Henson’s 75th Birthday (24/09/2011). These six characters were modelled to represent letters and colours of the google logo and according to the video posted by the Henson Company on youtube the idea was to allow the user to become a puppeteer and use their imaginations.

Plus there are a lot of great Easter eggs to discover while playing with these adorable puppet characters, but be quick as its only available for 36 hours.

Update: Google has now removed the Muppet Doodle but you can still have a play with it here
